Sustainable Farming: Hudson Valley Fresh
A series created for the Sustainable World: Bamako/New York exhibition at the Calumet Gallery, NYC in February 2012.
This series utilizes the deadpan esthetic to objectively convey these people. The Hudson Valley Fresh dairy cooperative makes the choice to produce the highest quality milk possible on the speculation that they can sell it at a premium price to secure a living wage. They are individuals who made the choice to change the status quo by rejecting the government's model and creating one of their own. These are the faces of people who create change.

Intimate Portraits of a Boy
This series is a response to the work of Diane Arbus who would take people she called freaks, people on the margins of society, and photograph them in a way that was suppose to make them appear more towards center of society. I feel she took these people and marginalized them even more. I am trying to do what she could not because she lacked the contact and understanding of this population. This series of intimate portraits shows a child with Down Syndrome not as a person on the margins of society, but as typical person. The portraits show who this person is and not their special need.
